MAF Translator worth it?
Here's what I've done: Hot Cam, Hooker LT's and y-pipe.
Here's the result:
I know everyone is going to say "go buy tuning software". But I might be selling the car and I don't want to sink more money into it.
Is there another option? Drilling TB, etc?
If you buy the software, it will allow you to fix the problem (99% sure).
If you sell the car, you can either include it with the car (and raise the price slightly) or sell it on the forum for about 1/2 what you paid for it.
Depends on whether you want to keep or sell an underperforming car or enjoy its maximum performance for however long you keep it. Just my two cents worth.
If I could just get the idle to lean out, then I'd be happy with it.
the car needs a clutch, too, so I'm trying to limit the $$.
Closed loop, which is normal operation, where the PCM uses external inputs to adjust. Open loop, aka WOT (wide open throttle) where the PCM ignores external inputs and uses its own tables only.
If you are running rich at idle (closed loop) and on the dyno (open loop) you really should tune it and be done with it. But hey, its your car. Bandaid it if you wish.
Best of luck, hope it works out.
