Default Flashing a replacement PCM

The PCM took a dump in my buddies car. Does a new PCM have to be flashed with a Tech 2 or can I do it with HP tuners? Can you do a entire write of a blank PCM? Or do I let them flash it then pull out the new calibration and copy all the chnges from the .bin file that we had created for his car into the new stock .bin file. It sure would be easier to just load the last .bin file that had the car running great. BTW it's an '02 TA.

What is the pcm from, new from a dealer, or used?

Most likely, hptuners will require a license for both the new and old OS to allow the rewrite. IF blank, you may need a tech 2 to flash it first.

New from a dealer. I have the serial port HPtuners and can do any 02 f-body.

I think that a blank PCM needs a vin. HPTuners I think needs a vin also. I think that the tech 2 is required. Could be wrong but alomost positive.
