Cant scan w/HPT

Cant scan w/HPT anyone have any suggestions on what to do so I can scan? I just got the PRO HPT yesterday and I registered the vehicle as well as saved the stock (close to anyway) tune. I adjusted the torq. mgmt. and wrote it to the car. It still wil not let me scan. I read a **** load of stuff and posted on the hp site. I dont have the "PLAY" button and the space bar does not do anything. Anyone know what might be causeing this.
