Problems with LS1 Edit
what are the specs of your laptop?
Is this a new problem (used to work now doesn't )?
Also does your laptop have a physical serial port or are you using a USB to serial adapter?
Can you connect with the scanner?
Does your cigarette lighter work?
May be an issue with the USB adapter, what brand is it? I don't recall what settings edit wants, but I would assume there'd be something in the help file?

Go to LS1Program. Connect all cables. Click on the program_PCM tab. Select a program file. Go to the Log_comms tabs and select a file to save it as. When it gets done post the text file up here so we can see the error message.
If it really feel it is a com port problem then I would go into the Device manager in windows and see what settings are on this virtual serial port. Or try a laptop with a dedicated serial port.
lots of posts here asking questions to help you, but your replys don't address most....
Given your last reply.... I would bet the radio shack USB adapter is to blame.... Radioshack and Belkin USB adapters seem to cause problems.....
if you can connect w/the scanner (as you said you can) but not via the edit tool... it's likely a problem with your USB to serial adapter... try different settings

Disconnected
If it is that then the adapter is to blame.
