So I put the heat wrap on and started it up and the engine light went out. Will the light go out like this from having the battery disconnected and wires cut or am I really in the clear with this now and it went out because the problem is fixed?
By the way, the car is running pretty smooth.

P0300 is random misfire DTC meaning it's not cylinder specific. More related to the CMP than the CKP sensor. Without knowing what wires were damaged it's impossible to say if it will return. If the conditions required to set that DTC are met and depending if it's a one trip or two trip code it will set again(turn one SES lite). P0300 is usually associated with rough idling due to the installation of a cam with a low LSA.
