Default Just bought with Hypertech...

Hey, I just bought my car, 2001 WS.6 auto, it came with 3.73's, 12 bolt, flowmaster exhaust and a hypertech programmer. I have read a lot of bad things about hypertech and was just wanting to know if im fine with this set up or should i sell the programmer and get another brand or just set it back to stock tune or what? thanks.

Hypertech handheld does what it's supposed to do. It's just very limited in what it does. It firms up the shifts, advances the timing, and has the ability for minor changes in tire size or rear end ratio. If you start modding your car, you'll want to return the program to stock, sell the hypertech, and get a real tuning program.

X2 -

Just be sure to set the hpp back to stock if you ever sell the car or the programmer.

K. Thanks. Sounds good. I plan on modding, of course, but not til i get some money, this purchase left me pretty much broke. When i return it to stock set up, if i were to do it now, how big a loss would it be? would it benefit me at all? or just wait til the modding? thanks

Hypertech claims about 13 hp and 26 lb ft of torque but I didn't get that with my 01 Z28. There are always issues that can knock the timing and fuel out of PE into the low octane VE tables as was the case during my dyno pull. You probably are using the hpp for your 3.73 adjustment so keep it in if you want an accurate reading on your speedo.
