Default wideband sensor placement?

I have TDs with an X-pipe, and from searching I had seen that it's best to have it 12-16" downstream from the collector on my driver side LT (driver side due to the "#7 cylinder lean" issue (err on side of safety). Is this ok? Or should I put it right on the X-pipe? I am looking to do the Innovate XD16 standalone one if anyone has personal praise/hatred towards it... thank you.
