1998 Os what do the operating system do for a pcm, is it just like the same thing like what windows xp does for the PC. would i be able to get another OS for my 1998 z28.
Yes, its just like a home pc operating system...some have more features, tables, than others. The ONLY custom operating system that im aware of for the 98 pcm is the 2 bar SD custom operating system we offer.

2 bar is used for boost (can measure up to 14.7psi of boost) ... you could use it on your stock z28 but you would not gain any benefit (plus if you don't put a 2 bar MAP sensor in car won't run right...)
The 98 is a bit of a bastard system and doesn not yet have custom OSs (and probably never will) written for it.
I use it fine on my 98 with an LS2 402, so it will do everything you are likely to want to do.
Yes you can change to a later model ecm but you need to change a number of physical components at the same time....gas tank and sender and dashboard.
