Default ???01 ecm swap to a 02???

I recently wecked my 01 z28 thats in my sig So i bought a 02 ss and plan to swap the motors. The thing is the ecm is tuned for my h/c motor, and i know there are security procedures when replaceing computer. The other thing is the z has ASR and the ss dosn't. so should i swap the ecm or just fork out the money for a retune.

You should be fine.

The relearn for vats should be the only thing that is needed. Or just grab the BCM and plug it in.

I know the vats procedure is a pain it takes like a half hour of turning the key on and off, i've done it on a couple of cars, but only with a new ecm. I didn't know if there was a vin code in there or something crazy like that. But if its going work thats just going to save me money for a tune.

Thanx for the help.

I've seen PCMs swapped between 01 and 02 F-bodies and never had to mess with VATS. A friend totaled his tuned 01 and put that PCM in his new 02 and it worked with no VATS relearn.

The cars I was talking about were the same way. Never caused any problems.
