^^^ not a good idea... tunes in the HPT repository are for example purposes... but there's no guarantee that tune is a good one

Personally I only upload stock bins to the repository anymore because I build every tune I do from scratch rather than copying other peoples work. There are basic guidelines you can go on for nearly every situation but your tune should be customized to your vehicle. There are too many variables to hope & pray one guys tune will work well on yours.

"Autotune" is basically a cute way of saying copy & paste using histograms. Its easy to use...just setup filters in the preconfigured histograms then just use the copy-paste feature to revamp your maf or VE tables or whatever your looking to recalibrate.

Good read here. I am looking to get HPT soon, and I was on the fence over std or pro. It had been a while since I researched it, and I forgot about the black box tuning.

foff667, it would seem that standalone data logging is the only advantage of pro. I've seen some people(even with Pro) hook their w/b to another sensor input and configure it to read a/f. Then you dont have another set of wires runing in your car. I just bought a used standard and am going to use my a/c pressure input wire. I guess I wont be logging with out my laptop. Looks like I better get a car adapter.

pro also comes with programmable outputs (if RPM > x AND TPS = 100% AND .... ) that you can use to trigger relays to activate external circuits (Knock Retard Light if KR > 2*, warning light if WB too lean and you'er in PE mode, etc...)
