Default PLEASE help!

Went to the dyno today made one pull then connected new version of hp tuners to 2001 ss camaro ( bone stock, no electicals adds or changes) and it would not sync up to the PCM, kept saying failure. Tried different cables everything. Then we tried Cat Scan and it was able to sync with the pcm, but we didn't change anything because we were afraid that it might lock up and screw something up and then I wouldn't be able to drive the car home! Plus my battery keeps draining. What the hell should I do I have no clue! Hp wasn't able to say much! HELP!

what is the exact error message?

Battery draining no clue... are you leaving the HPT cable plugged in all the time (instructions indicate to unplug when not in use since it has a slight draw)

Was the error in the scanner or flasher or both?

What version of the cable are you using (serial or usb)

If serial what USB adapter?

Need a lot more info other than "kept saying failure" ...

again.. need the exact error message

When you say you tried serial and usb? I assume then you have a Version 1 cable (non MPVI) and tried using a native serial port and a USB to serial port?

Have you verified the serial settings are correct (help file gives this info in the beginning)

What version of the software are you using?

If this was in the scanner, it should just be saying something about unable to connect, try the flash software to see if you can read the tune

Is "Cat scan" another laptop program (plus into laptop) or is it a standalone unit? If standalone and it worked, then your OBDII port is likely fine, and it is most likely an issue with how you have your laptop and serial port configured...

Again, we need to know which brand USB to Serial adapter you tried (though if you tried a native serial port and it failed also bit unusual)

Also need the EXACT error message

Also, is this your cable that he hooked to your laptop or was it his cable? if it was his, it'd be best for him to post up as if you don't have direct access to the cable and laptop, best you can do is convey info to him... and it's easier to deal direct with the person who owns the laptop and cable...

Has this setup worked (the SAME laptop and cable) on other vehicles? can you test on another vehicle to see if it will read it (if it will but can't read your car then it's an issue with your vehicle) ...

Battery draining is a seperate issue (you either have a bad battery, or something you have installed is drawing power while the car's off)

In order to start to help we need alot more info, and exact information not "error was something about" or not knowing what brand the USB adapter is...

Also have you emailed support per the instructions in the help file? (I believe instructions also suggest trying to get a VCM info log on the VCM via the flasher if possible) also be sure to include your cable ID in the email

Would also prolly help to post this issue in the HPT forums...
