Unhappy Help Please! Car won't stay running

Yesterday I finally got finished with putting a new LS6 engine in my 99' Trans Am. I took it for a drive and eveything was working fine until I noticed my idle between shifts was usually high about 2 grand, its a 6speed by the way. So today I got the idea of putting a piece of tape over the hole in the throttle body blade. I started the car then it cut off suddenly. ( I did that to see will it stay runnimg) Then I took the tape off and started the car, I drove about 60 yards then it suddenly died. I tried starting it but it keeps dying. Can someone please help me out.

I used my diablo handheld tuner to see if there are any codes. It had two codes, the first one is skip shift solenoid malfunction and the other one is reverse inhibitor malfucntion. Does this have anything to do with it?

Might wanna check to make sure you don't have those two solenoid connections on the tranny reversed. Shouldn't affect idle though. If you keep your foot on the gas for a little bit does it still die?

Find somebody local to scan it to make sure, but its probably an IAC issue. You either gummed it up with the residue from the tape, or look into its wiring. This is just e-speculation of course, but scanning it can tell you whats up.

Did you change the programming for the new engine?

I began looking through the fuses in the engine bay and noticed that the engine sensor fuse was blown. So I started looking through a wiring diagram to see what circuit that fuse protects. The MAF sensor and all the oxygen sensors are on the circuit. So I crawled underneath the car and noticed that one of the O2 sensor wires insulation burned and the bare wire was causing the short to ground. I fixed the wire and replaced the fuse. Now the car ildes a bit to too high, I think its a vacuum leak. Well, anyway, thanks for the info.
