ECM Question

Do ECM's need to be married to the BCM?
I have an L92/L76 engine/ECM and harness.
I tried cranking over the engine today but nothing happened when I turned the key. The fuel pump didn't even cycle.
I took the ECM out and plugged it into a NNBS '07 Sierra and it did the same thing. Only the engine light came on when I tried to crank the engine over.
Any ideas?

Sounds like it dont have a starter file in it? Did you buy it new?

A new pcm will not have a valid cal in it. You will need to take it somewhere to have it flashed with a valid tune.

Should I have it flashed with a base tune for the vehicle or the engine?
