Default Got Hypertech...Have Problem

I bought a used hypertech power programmer 3 and it says that the vin's don't match because the guy that owned it forgot to clear it before sending it to me. Is there anyway that I can clear it myself without having the car with the correct vin?

I believe you have to send it back to hypertech to clear the vin for it to be fresh and i dont know how much they charge for that, if they dont do that, then you gotta get that guy who sold it to you to take his car off of it

We already called the guy. He sold the car . They said they received it like that when they bought it and took it to a performance place and they reset it for free, I was wondering if anyone knows of any places that can do that. We called Hypertech, they said all they can do is send us a new one for $250(WTF) so thats out of the question. It seems like if Hypertech was smart they would have made a button that you could hold in for x amount of time to reset it back to the way it came from them originally.

Hypertech is smart, they want to sell new units....they don't make any money off used ones....

Sounds like the seller screwed you, if he's honest, he will refund your money

Call him and tell him you want your money back. Could be worse, someone bought a car with a HPP3 tune in it - hopefully it was just for gears/fans/etc.

Hypertech VIN locks the unit so only one car can be tuned using the unit. They are not trying to screw anyone, they are trying to prevent people from pirating their software. The person doing the screwing is the person who sold it to you without returning it to stock.

It is useless as is and nobody can or will reset it for free. Refund or send it to hypertech. Or refund + buy some good software instead.
