Goods and Bads of Setting Your REV limiter lower Any opinions on setting my Rpm shift points and Rev Limiter lower?
I've read that setting it to high is hard on the engine. Just Curious and
and Trying to figure what settings are best on the Predator.

Re: Goods and Bads of Setting Your REV limiter lower Don't do it. The engine can hadle 6200+ rpms without a problem. What you may consider doing is lowering the point when the fuel starts flowing again.
Example:
Rev Limiter (fuel shutoff) stock: 6200
Fuel restart: 6199
What is hard on the car is bouncing back and forth.
I've raised my limiter to 6300 rpms, and lowered the restart to 6100 rpms...so there is a 200 rpm buffer in there instead of a whopping 1 rpm buffer. The engine doesn't seem to mind hitting the limiter in between shifts as much anymore. There is no reason to have such a small window between cutoff/restart.
Example:

What Exactly do you mean restart? is that the shift points?

Re: Goods and Bads of Setting Your REV limiter lower The restart he is talking about is the rpm that the PCM turns the fuel back on after cutting it off. If these two numbers are too close together, the fuel flow will cycle on and off causing a lean run condition, obviously not a good idea, especially for a FI engine.
