Speed Limiter??

Speed Limiter?? I have a 2000 Z-28 M6 convertable it is mostly stock with just a lid and exhaust. When i first got the car i hit 125 mph in it. Now as soon as i shift into 5th at about 115-117ish the car jerks and does not let me go any faster. Is this the factory speed limiter? if so is this on all f-bodys? where can i get more info on my cars speed limiter? i find it strange that i have been 125 b4 and now it wont let me go above 115. thanks
