Tuning shift points

We've been tuning my car for awhile now(2001 TA)and I have been trying to get my shift points dialed in and been having some trouble.For some odd reason it will not shift from 2nd to 3rd past 5800 RPM.The RPM's have been set to shift at 6350 in the PCM and we keep raising the mile per hour with no luck.I think they were as high as 90 MPH and it still shifts at about 75MPH and 5800 RPM.Anybody have any advice for me on this?I've heard that the PCM stores shift adapt points that have to be cleaned out.Could this be the issue or am I just fishing?Trans shifts real nice in every gear.....just way too soon!

TP% has to be 100%. Is your TP% reading 100% when the problem occurs?

I know that with my car not running and the key is off my scan tool shows that TPS is at 100% if I put it to the floor.If this is what you mean?Traver

Did you change both the normal shift speed at 100% TPS and the full throttle shift speed tables? They should agree with one another.

Sounds like you changed full throttle shift RPM table already.

heh, i've had it happen before, it turned out my trans fluid was low, and under good acceleration it would not shift, as the trans fluid was pushed back. filled it up, problem disappeared. see if it happens in higher gears when your acceleration isnt' that great anymore, but you're still doing high rpm, then you know if it's acceleration or tps/rpm/something else dependent.

Well we got the shifting problem nailed down.Seems to me that for some reason the tranny speed and the computer speed were not the same so we had to lead the thing to shift later.The damn thing revs so fast that it's almost like the PCM can't keep up!I know this sounds goofy but as soon as we figured this out it has been shifting right in the ballpark.Traver
