This is driving me nuts!!
Here's the situation. A year ago I swapped from A4-M6 along with a used PCM from an M6. The new computer didn't run the car so I bought HPTuners and found out it was tuned for a heavily modded car. So I put the stock parameters in it and the car started, idled, and ran fine. BUT the fuel gauge didn't work and it gave me 4 DTC's:
P0446 - EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve Control System
P0452 - Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Voltage
P0461 - Fuel Level Sensor Performance
P0463 - Fuel Level Sensor Circuit High Voltage
Now I swap the A4 computer back in, and all the DTC's are gone and the fuel gauge is working normally, but the car runs rough since it's a tune for the automatic. I continue using the M6 computer and get used to it so I get rid of the old one. But now it's bugging me again since I have no idea how much fuel I have and the SES light is on. The last 3 DTC's are all related and even use the same PINs on the PCM. I thought maybe it's the 5V power that runs to the system but the manual says it uses the same one for the Throttle Position sensor also which works fine so I'm not sure where to start on this really.
Today I connected the HPTuners again for the first time since about 6 or 8 months ago, and it had a failed "Prepairing VCM" many times but not every time. (which if I remember correctly has happened ever since I used the HPTuners on the M6 computer, never happened with the A4 computer) The VCM Scanner works fine collecting DTC's but it doesn't have any readings for the RPM, IAT, TP sensor, etc. which hasn't ever happened before.
So what do I do? I check the Data Link Connector in accordance with the manual I have for the car and everything checks fine for it. All of this is making me suspect the bad PCM. Maybe there's a fried or broke board inside?
The old user who I bought it from says he never used it for the fuel tank system since he had a different setup, and he didn't even have the fuel gauge hooked up so he had no idea about this. Is there anything I should check or you think I should just try getting another PCM? I'm pretty sure the pins are the same on the A4 and M6 PCM's since the manual doesn't have seperate diagrams for either one.
