Default big hesitation

looking for any ideas or anyone who had this same problem.


what I have is a 1998 ls1 6-speed from a camaro. I have been fitting a few last items and I did some programming for tach ,speedo and egr delete. so I decided to let it run a little bit and noticed it has a problem.

now with the car running @ idle out of gear. I can open the throttle fairly quick but not a snap or anything and the eng. just sits there and starts to loose rpm and sounds like it's going to die then slowly catches it's self and starts to rev slow. acts like a obd1 car missing a maf or tps but both are there and seem to work fine. TPS works perfectly for sure. maf reads what seems to be normal and the map sensor works perfectly as well.


now I did notice the rear o2 sensors where already disabled so I checked the maf table and compared it to a stock 98 camaro ls1 and it looks identical (thought maybe someone had added a larger maf- guess not)

anyway any idea's ?

BTW I have a data log for anyone who has efilive and would like me to e-mail it to see the data during this event

is it cammed?

its probably the idle air control valve. my lt1 was doing that and thats what it was. you could also have a vaccum leak.

I don't know if it is cammed. the guy claimed it had a small cam but the bolts on the eng. looked untouched so did the dirt so I figure sure guy maybe it does? it does not sound like one though but these things do idle smoother than the old sbc with a mild cam.

I did notice a very important thing though. the alt is not charging so I might have low system voltage which can cause odd things. I will get that fixed first and then go back to any more run problems

I got back to this now and I even replaced the old intake gaskets with new fresh ones and I still have this problem.

any other idea's? it acts like there is no pump shot you open the throttle the smallest amount and it just sits there loosing rpm.

GOT IT FIXED!

turns out I thought I had all the tables set to stock settings but for some reason I over looked the fuel injector flow rate several times over! don't know how but needless to say i did. anyway I was comparing the tables to a stock 98 camaro bin I got here and it popped out like a sore thumb this time around. looks like something close to 40# injectors where set in the pcm when I am running stockers. lean!
