ses light dim and flickering

ses light dim and flickering when i start my car the ses light kinda comes on but its real dim and it slowly gets dimmer and dimmer until its off. it only does this right when i start the car and once i'm moving it goes away. I havent had a chance yet to see if any codes are being thrown. This started a few weeks after my tranny line came off and spewed fluid all over my engine.

Re: ses light dim and flickering I had the same exact problem all of a sudden too. how i ended up finding the cause was a couple months after i put the cam in i took it back apart to put a double roller timing chain in and when i went to loosen the crank pulley bolt it was loose!!! Which as you know the crank pulley is not keyed to the crank on an LS1 so it allowed the pulley to slip on the crank at times and slow the alternator speed which it would put out like 13.1 volts all the time and i occasinally get a "service vehicle" light if i didnt rev the engine right after starting. After a new bolt and proper torque it never came back dim again and now 14.1 volts consitently now. I had checked the ground wires on the back of the driver side head too and made sure they were clean and all 3 had there own bolt on the back of th head i had probs with o2 heaters with 2 wires on one bolt and the other own its own. So thats some food for thought if you had the crank pulley off at one time just check it out once cause it might have helped it start slipping with ATF being sprayed in the engine compartment The cars are very sensative to electrical voltage and any drop in voltage from normal the first thing it will do is start kicking on MIL's at ramdom that you never see on normally or come on very dim. My problems were completely cured after that. Tom

Re: ses light dim and flickering I'll have to check that out. The light isn't coming on anymore. Also I hooked up autotap and I saw no codes. Although my horn doesn't work anymore. I checked the fuses and crap up to the fuse block. i also checkout the horn itself which works. so the problem with my horn is inbetween the fuseblock and the horn connector. fun stuff.
