How much overlap would you consider enough to start thinking about going to CLSD? Right now my new cam has 10 degrees of overlap What are your thoughts on this post from the link I posted earlier? https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....1&postcount=18
Do you think the people having problems with SD are doing OLSD?
Thanks! Just trying to learn here too
As Slowhawk said (and I have experienced), the MS3 with 15 degrees of overlap can operate with the MAF. So your 10 degrees will be easy.
As for that post, something must have beed off on his tune. I have seen quiet a few cars that were "tuned" and had similar issues, once properly tuned they worked much better. I don't think it is an OL vs CL thing, but more of how in depth they are doing the tune.

Ok so i belive im just gonna stick with the MAF, now is the stock one good or do i need some fancy SLP unit??
Due to the increased size of the MAF housing, after you get it tuned you should see an increase. Like Patrick G stated, you are removing (or reducing in this case) the MAF airflow restriction (if there is/was one). This especially holds true for 90mm setups, you could stand to gain better airflow. Just mearly replacing the stock 75mm MAF with an 85mm and no tuning, will net you very little gain. You need to update the MAF transfer curve for the new larger MAF to see results.
