predator problem

predator problem okay so i just got my predator in the mail. it's used from ebay. guy says it's unlocked and so does the predator. version is 2.03.
what it does is when hit "tune it" it goes through the warning screens, asks me what type of tranny, then says communicating. after that is thinks a couple of secs and then goes back to the main screen.
everything else seems to work fine as far as the diagnostics and what have you, i can clear codes, get real time data. what could be wrong?
it is an 2002 ls1 in an rx7. been running for a year with no problems.

nothing else, all it does is go through the screens, then it says "please wait, communicating" for a split second, asks the tranny type, then says "please wait, communicating" for about 1-2 seconds, then bam! back to the main screen.
