SES Light and no Apparent Cause
SES Light and no Apparent Cause Well I was driving home, no racing, shifting maybe around 3500 in the lower gears, easy driving. I looked down and saw the SES light was on. Not sure when it came on. No sounds, smells, and it idles fine. I did a through inspection of the engine compartment and found nothing. Checked the newly installed spark plug wires and none are loose. Checked the fuses, all are good. Engine temp is normal, oil pressure is normal. 
Also, how much does it cost to read a code and is it safe to drive the car in the meantime?

Re: SES Light and no Apparent Cause It's a "service engine soon" light...not a "pull over and don't even think about driving" light. 
You'll be find drving for a while. As mentioned B4, go to autozone...it's free.
