Default Spark timing

I've been using my scanmaster on my 01 and I know the car is using the low octane table, I'm only seeing 15% of timing. The car actually feels decent considering such low timing. The only mods are Lid, Headers, and FRA. I know you can copy the normal table over to the low octane table and take care of it, but why would it continually do this. Even when I reset the PCM it still only gets 15% of timing.

Check ASPARK which will tell you if your adaptive spark is messing, but that should get reset when you reset PCM.

You might need to log spark modifiers like ECT/IAT etc, they will pull timing if too hot etc.

Also if you have some certain DTC's or are running a stock OS in speed density mode you will also run from low octane table.

15%? That is an unusual way to describe timing. Do you mean 15 degrees? What timing are you describing? Idle? Part throttle? WOT? If WOT, what RPMs? The whole RPM range.

It's the entire WOT table and yeah I meant 15* not 15%. As soon as you go WOT it's 15* and doesn't change at any RPM all the way to rev limiter.

One of the modifiers is screwing you up. Id bet that it was the IAT sensor just because it's most common to false (from what i have seen) due to heat soak. My understanding is that in order to enter the low octane table, you have to be in speed density. Meaning that your MAF failed. I think that the stock tune has more than 15* in the WOT area of the low octane chart.

Well it finally showed a DTC today P0332 which is knock sensor. Now I found 3.9 degrees of knock. I'm gonna replace the MAF and knock sensors and see if that doesn't get it straightened out.
