Default A/F guage

Yesterday, a buddy of mine and I wired up an A/F guage in my car. Now, I have a small question. I have never seen one of these in action, but here is what's happening.

When I am just cruising around, the guage sweeps back and forth from rich to lean constantly. However, when I get on it, the guage actually reads properly, and stays there. Does the guage only work at full throttle? I know it's working properly, because I got on it, and it was showing slightly rich, then I sprayed it, and it jumped to a little leaner. Actually perfect though. I just wanna know if it's supposed to be all wacky while just driving normal. Please help. Thanks in advance guys.

Yup it's only useful at WOT.

I hooked it up to the solid purple wire in pin 66. I know you are supposed to use the left bank, but that O2 sensor is going bad, so we used the right forward one.

Thats kinda funny saying its only useful at WOT, when the stock o2 sensors are not accurate or even used by the pcm at WOT. The stock o2 are used for emmisions only, i.e. the pcm wants your car to run 14.7 afr at cruise for the lowest emmisions. Below 13 afr or so they are totally inaccurate. Anyway, you will only be able to tell if you are extremly lean or extremly rich with this gauge.
