Default Elive5 & serial to USB connector?

I can use the Autotap and Edit with the USB to serial connector. The Elive5 will not connect. I set it to COMM1 which is the USB port and nothing. Is there a new patch for Elive5 that will correct this problem? TIA

The baud rate is probably being set to the wrong value by Autotap, that's what happened to me. I emailed Paul Blackmore at EFILive and he sent me a utility that sets up the port correctly; EFILive5 does not do this itself.

I will look into that as a solution. Could you pm me some contact info or a specific site to look at so I can get it to connect. TIA

Do you have the latest version of EFILiveV5?
V5.26.8 Build 454? If not download it here:
http://www.efilive.com/downloads

There is also a utility there called atdiag which will check your connection.

What Cal explained could be the problem. If the interface is left at a baud rate other than 19200 then EFILiveV5 will not connect as it only supports 19200. The quickest way to reset the interface to 19200 baud is to unplug it from the car and replug it. This cycles power to the interface and causes it to reset to 19200 baud.

We have seen all types of behaviour from USB to serial convertors, the following sequence gives the best results when using a USB convertor:

1. Laptop on.
2. Ignition on.
3. Connect cable to vehicle.
3a. Wait 5 seconds for protocol detection.
4. Connect cable to USB
5. Connect USB to PC/Laptop
6. Start EFILive
7. Click on the Connect toolbar button if EFILive is not configured to auto connect.

Regards
Paul
