Is it best to set the rev limiter at 6k or 5.9k to save the motor?

I really don't think a 100 RPMs is going to make a difference. FWIW, the stock rev limiter is set at 6200.

6500rpm on bolt on motors for me. Most examples still have servicable springs so they spin fine at high speeds. For the ones that don't I give the owner the option to leave it at 6200rpm or the former.

Depends on the car: where you make power, how far your RPM will drop. For some cars there is no reason to go past 6000
