Anybody using EFILive with a USB/Serial adapter?

Anybody using EFILive with a USB/Serial adapter? I have been using Autotap with a GoHubs GO-COM232 adapter that I bought from B&B after not being able to make the Belkin adapter work. I've never been able to get Autotap version 2 to work with this setup, and B&B has told me that I have to upgrade my hardware 
Instead of paying $100 for the cable upgrade, I would rather spend $150 on the EFILive software, because it sounds like it will log much faster. So, is anybody using EFILive with a USB adapter, and if so, which one?
