Default Tech Edge A/F meter???

Where are you LS1 guys (those that are using it) getting your Readings from. Or should I say where are you "picking up" your RPM "feed"?

Sorry for the crudeness of the question but a freind has the wideband and uses his MSD box on his LT1 but wasn't sure where we could hook it up on my LS1.

I checked out this post Logging data from Tech Edge... but never really came to a good conclusion.

Any help would be appreciated (I'm not fully understanding the whole thing yet )

Thanks
Troy

Well apparently there may not be a truly good answer to this one yet, huh?

You should be able to pull the rpm signal from the tach lead.

Do a few searches to find out what wire it is on your car?(I don't know either)

I have my Techedge 1.5 installed but, I don't have the rpm lead hooked up yet on my truck. I'll probably get around to it early next week when I install my extra fuse block.

(Just being lazy) would that be the same one I tapped into for my Harlan shift light (something like pin#19 in the PCM)? Thus allowing me to just tap into the wire I ran for the light (does this provide the correct signal?). If so that would be quite easy/nice.

Thanks a bunch!

I'm not sure and I don't have my instruction paper for the techedge unit with me right now.

You could always just test it out and pray it doesn't blow something up.

That is probably the wire you need though.

Sorry I can't be any more help than that.

John

Thanks guys!
I guess that we will try that wire/connection, and go from there. I'm really hoping this all works 'cuz it will make the tuning soo much better and allow me to get it pretty close before I actually go to the dyno (again) for the final test/tune.

My freind actually has the whole set-up of
Should be pretty cool, and interesting. I know he had his car (A single turbo '97 Z making 542 rwhp and 622 rwtq) pretty much on the money within 4-6 runs. Oh yeah he also used, as will I, the Dyno Tune.zip Excel (AFR/PE vs. RPM) spreadsheet to get the PE table damn close in one shot. This seems like another very interesting and handy "tool".

I have the 1.5 unit. I use a Palm, for reading and logging. The display is not needed. Really good decision to buy it.
