Advise on a tune
I will be getting a tune soon, and hope someone could tell me what to look out for.
There is a good place near by with diagnostics etc, but I dont think they have a dyno. Is a dyno absolutly necessary for a tune, or can a reasonable tune be gained without a dyno? Should I look for a tune somewhere else with a dyno?
Things I hear that can be improved include:
Optimized Air/Fuel Delivery along with Spark Advance
Raise RPM Limitation
Set fan to operate at lower temperatures
Optimize shift points and increase firmness of shifts (Automatic Transmission)
Anything else I should try to get altered while at it, and is there any negatives against doing any of these?
Your thoughts are appreciated
Many tuners take the cheap and easy route of MAF, PE and timing and ignore the VE table. If they take the time to do all of the above mentioned tables the car will be an all around better performer.
Also make sure that they will not only tune it on the dyno but will drive with you to verify you don't have any bucking, surging, stalling.
