The AutoTap software is free to download from the www.autotap.com web site.
However, you need a registered cable to allow you to connect to a vehicle - so you need to buy the cable from AutoTap.

The same is true for EFILive - software is free (www.efilive.com) but you need to buy a cable.

When/if you do buy a cable you get a registration key that "unlocks" the software and allows it to connect to a vehicle using the registered cable.

You can choose to buy an AutoTap registration key and/or an EFILive registration key when you purchas an AutoTap interface cable.
Whichever registration key you purchase determines which software you will be able to use.

Paul

For EFILive, yes.
The license agreement expilicitly states that you may freely copy and distribute the EFILive software.
We did that to allow non-EFILive owners the ability to download EFILive freely so that they can view/analyse someone elses EFILive data logs.

(I am not familiar enough with AutoTap's license agreement to say what you can/can't do with Autotap).

EASE is better than both and they work with GM directly.
