Bigger MAF....Is it worth it and do I need one??
If your stocker is bad, get a factory 85mm off of here or ebay. Don't waist money on the aftermarket ones as they are most likely the exact same thing, except with thier name on it.
Sorry to hijack but this thread is timely!!!!!!
Based on the principles of streamline flow, smaller area = faster flow. Smaller area also means more restriction. The question is @ what point does the screens restriction become an issue. Some say in the 500HP range others claim in the 600 HP range. The screens main purpose is to increase the speed of the air that passes through the MAF during part throttle. Removing the screen will increase peak HP @ the expense of low end torque. A good alternative that I have read is to switch to a screened truck 85 mm MAF & re-calibrate the software to the truck MAF frequency settings; or just keep the stock MAF. I'm in the "it's good into the 600HP range group of opinion." I use the stock MAF w/ the exit side sleeve (after the sensors) gutted. The exit MAF end cross splitter is removed. The entry into the MAF is stock, screened & cross member is in place).

Why :
-I've got hptuners so I can tune it
-I've a 99 Corvette, 01+ are equiped with the 85mm MAF.
So I've ordered a 01+ Aftermarket Air Box ... and a 85mm MAF on Ebay ($25)
Worth it for me !

I purchased a Delphi 85mm MAF for $50.00, and $40.00 for the 5 pin harness (Casper elec.).. < than $100.00 for a more crisp throttle response, and a few extra horses to boot...Not a bad INVESTMENT IMO...
Once i throw my new TF215's,85mm lid, maf,FAST 90... i would say they were well worth the extra $$$..Not hardly a waste of $$...
Just my .02... ( which means about as much as yours)
