Total timing on bolt-on LS1?
What kind of total timing should I be running on a basically bolt-on LS1? I keep seeing 27-28 being average for most...Which is weird to me because my last motor(ford) ran 38* total n/a and 28* on spray. But should I run around 28* n/a and just pull 2* for ever 50hp I spray at it?

yea all of the ls1 stuff runs around anywhere from 27*-29* total timing on a na ls1 because the design of the cylinder head is a major impovement over alot (not all) of the old school motors. in this case it has alot more airflow with the same lift numbers which will help better cylinder preassure and doesnt need as much timing to help the combustion stroke achieve its max potential and yea that would be about right for the nitrous 2* for every 50hp shot

On that same token, more efficient cylinder heads (i.e. ported heads and aftermarket) need less timing than that. I'm running max timing of 26 degrees at wot from 4500-7000 and didn't make any more power by adding anymore timing. All it did was begin to knock a little sporatically.
