Default Instrument Cluster

If I replace my instrument cluster with one from another truck do I have to have my Vin# programmed into it?

No, it'll work like the original.
Assuming by truck you mean one related to this site.

The cluster will swap, but it will most likely contain the mileage from the donor car - not yours. You need to have your mileage programed in by an authorized vendor. I used www.specmo.com.

99-02 you will be fine. If you are an 03 and up you may run into goof things with the dic on the cluster if it is not programmed for certain options the truck is equipped with. However if the truck is a match between the two you will be fine.
