cam and headers....need a tune?

cam and headers....need a tune? I am planing on installing a cam and headers. I currently have tsp lid, bellows, ported MAF and TB, slp dual dual exhaust. Will I have to get a tune to avoid drivability issues or being hard on the engine? I don't have anyplace close to tune(150miles). I know nothing about the aftermarket tuning options other than LS1edit which is kinda pricy. It's an M6

and tuning is usually aroud $450....ls1 edit is $600 and then you need autotap or efi-live- $300
......

might just have to drive to the tuners place....take a weekend get up early...get drivin...and go do it.

Re: cam and headers....need a tune? I live near Des Moines, Iowa and the closest place I've heard of is Davenport/quad cites area. That isn't to much of a problem. I just don't want to tune 2 or 3 times (after each mod) if I can avoid it without to many problems.

I might be doing a cam over labor day....and if I do I will have to drive home afterwards(using a buddys mechanic shop in Iowa) about 3 hours drive back to kc...and a week later I have a tuning scheduled with raging motorsports....so I will have to drive on it for a week...... hope it runs good enough to get to and from work (if I do it)
