Default HP Tuners.. Worth it?

Well now that i have a full time job this summer, its that time of the year to purchase more car parts
Now, i've had my car dyno tuned twice..no complaints or anything, but after ive put 2 and 2 together, i think in the long run i would save more money doing tuning my self. I've never tuned a car or anything, im pretty young, and i think it would be cool to get my feet wet. Do you guys think its worth it?
I have some questions:
-Will i be able to use HP tuners if eventually i swap to a larger motor? As long as i have the stock PCM it shuold work right?
-I do have a laptop, so i shuold be able to get by with the $500 standard VCM suite. Correct?

*Taken from HP Tuners web site:
"Can I buy a wide band sensor and simply plug it in?
No. You need a wide band kit that supplies a 0-5v output. You will plug the output from your wide band controller into our interface."

I believe my PLX supplies this.... How does this work exactly?

Thanks guys!

btw, mods in F-Quick link

I'm getting mine tomorrow. If your not in a hurry, I found a guy on craigslist that tuned his "for sale car" and I asked if he wanted to sell the HPTuners. I got the pro version for $350 with 2 credits left. I think you would have a better chance selling the pro version later down the line.

Its worth it if:

1. You get a wideband and the pro version
2. You spend the time to learn to do it right. Requires a lot of reading and experimenting.

As long as you run one of the common GM PCM/ECM's in their supported list, you'll be able to tune it with HP tuners.
