dumb question
Ok, I am doing a 6.0 swap in my 71 Cutlass. I am using a 2003 LQ4/4L80E that had drive by wire. I have converted the harness and TB over to cable operated TB, mimicking a 2003 Express Van. I have the ECM from the truck that used DBW, its p/n is 12582605. I am under the impression that this ecm will not work considering that it operated a DBW setup. I purchased a 12586243 ecm from a salvage yard, it is the GM p/n that came in a 2004 express van (03-04 same ecm for vans) I look up that part # and it says 5.7 corvette, 4.3 and 8.1. Says nothing about van with 6.0 w/ 4L80e. I look further and it seems to be an S-10 ECM. Now here's the dumb question, with disregard to engine performance tuning (I will do that with HP Tuners) will that computer, we'll say from an S-10, be capable of operating the 6.0/80E or will it need to be vin flashed for the correct van parameters? The mentality I have is it will not work with out a vin flash, am I wrong?

12586243 is a service replacement PCM part number that has the hardware capabilities to run the 2004 Corvette, S10 4.3l, LQ4 G Van, and others. The PCM comes with no calibration. The dealer would flash the correct cal per the vehicle involved. With all that being said, if the PCM you have came out of a G van per the vin, than you are all set. The LQ4 and 4L80e should be in it if that is what the van had. Do you have the vin of the vehicle that the PCM came out of, if you do I can run the information for you.
