Rev limit and shift points?

Rev limit and shift points?
With my mods, what should my shift pints be? Right now i have them set at about 6200 for 1-2 and 2-3. I have my rev limit set at 6500(so i wont hit it while spraying) Should they be higher? I know it will be diffrent on the bottle. I'm tuning the car off the bottle then i plan on spraying again. Is that a good way or does someone else have a diffrent idea on how it should be done? Thanks this site rocks!

Re: Rev limit and shift points?
That might be a bit high. I would not go any higher than 6200 for sure. Especially without a cam. if it were me I would try 1-2 6150 2-3 6100 and 3-4 6050. I have tested bracket race cars back to back and found that a 98 will run the same ET even if you lower the shift 100 RPM than what it was set at. THE BEST WAY IS TO PUT IT ON A DYNO AND FIND WHERE YOU MAKE PEAK HP, and then adjust from there. a few 100 over peak in 1-2 etc etc as i stated. This Is my personal experience others may have found differently.

Re: Rev limit and shift points?
I wouldn't raise the stock rev limit unless you've upgraded the valve springs (usually done with a cam swap.) I don't know about a '98, but my '01 peaked at 5400 rpm stock.
