Default when adding heads to cam-only, is retune (LS1edit) needed?

i have LS1edit and car runs good. if i get ported heads, how will a/f ratio be affected? LS1edit retune necessary?
my guess is that it should run fine without the retune, but to squeeze out the last bit of power, a retune is recommended.

My O2's were at 920's before heads with no knock after heads they droped to 870's and 4-5 degrees of knock retard retuned and noticed the difference. Now I am back in the 900's and pulling 29 degrees timing with 0 knock and the car feels better, hard to tell with no dyno #'s. You could problably get by with out it but if you want the most you can get I would retune it.

Higher compression went 11 to 1 and more air made it leaner so I got knock retard.

Yeah it probably depends on the heads/headwork, just how ported they are, valve size, how much they're milled etc.
