I Bought A 2001 Camaro Ss At A Local Auction.the Cluster Was Not Working When I Bought It.ive Had It Sent Out To Be Looked At And No One Can Figure It Out.i Did Some Research And I Found Out That The Car Has A 1998 Pcm,engine And Engine Harness In It.however It Still Has A 2001 Dash Harness And Cluster In It.if I Replace The Dash Harness With A 98 Harness And A 98 Cluster And A 98 Bcm The Cluster Should Work Right? Or Do I Have To Have Everything Re Programmed.can They Program That 98 Pcm To My 2001 Vin? I Need Some Advice Thanks.

I think the only difference is the temp sensor needs to be swapped? You would be better off getting the correct computer and harness for the car, the fuel gauge will not work without re-programming between 98 and 99+ . there must have been VIN change in the computer otherwise I think you get a code from the BCM

You just need to change the sensors on the engine, all the engines 98-02 are pretty similar so its just the sensors that change on 99-02 !!! (Temp, Crank, Etc.. Do some research to make sure the ones you need to change)
Did you figure out the problem with the cluster ???

Wow, the previous owner must have gotten a hell of a deal on a 98 set-up to have done that. +1 on changing the sensors, including the knock sensors if they are not the 99+ version & using a 99 PCM. A 99+ uses a better (less sensitive) knock sensor & knock software. Also, the 99 PCM, harness, & sensors is pretty straight forward & will be correct for the car.
