Code for gear ratio
The best way to find out would be to just jack up the rear ends and spin the tire one revolution and count how many times the pinion spins. If you don't have posi, make sure both tires spin one revolution.
I thought most v6 cars had 3.08 gears?
Now Codes GU2=2.73 gearset, GU5 = 3.23, GU6 = 3.42. These are the gear ratio's usually found in a factory later model 7.5" F-Body factory rear end.

EDIT rpo y87 is the v6 performance package rpo. Limited slip rear with 3.42's (even with the auto)
