Is it really a Trans Am??
The car has Trans Am on the lower doors and on the center on the rear tail light section, but the title says it’s a Firebird Formula. I entered the serial number on KBB and it came back as a Formula - so I’m confused - what is my car?

The VIN only indicates V8 Firebird (Formula) or V6 Firebird, there is no designation or indication in the VIN for "Trans Am" sub-model.
The way to know for sure if it's a Trans Am is in the RPO codes (SPID sticker on the driver's door jamb). If it's a Trans Am then you will see the "Y82" RPO. If it's a Formula (proper) you will see the "W66" RPO. You will not see both, only one or the other (hence definitive proof of final model designation).

Technically, a T/A is merely a Formula w/ an appearance / ground effects / option package on it with some other options (like leather seats, power windows, etc.) included as standard. As far as the DMV and insurance company is concerned, they both have the same V8 so they are the same.

I have the same vehicle. All Trans Am (y82) says formula from the VIN and registration. The only thing it doesn't have is the Ram air hood. It's got all the ground effects, trans am badging along the side and back and the high spoiler. Just strange. Would love to know all the "RPO" codes.
