Your talking about the very top of the dash right? My car is a 97 and my dash pad came off of a 2002. It works fine.

Yep, they're the same. I wish there was a fiberglass version available. The factory piece is notorious for getting brittle. The one in my '95 'bird broke into about 5 pieces when I removed it, and that was without forcing it or being rough with it.

I need one also for my 97 Trans Am.

Where is the best place to get a replacement top dash pad?

To the OP, yes the later version will technically fit...however the corner above the vents/passenger air bag is different and the pad won't fully sit where it needs to. There's a small gap in that same corner too
