If the security system wasn't letting the car start due to cutting power to the starter, bump-starting the car wouldn't work correct? I thought I was having issues with the security system, and got stranded tonight. As a last ditch effort I popped the clutch (in reverse!!!) and the car fired right up?! Now I'm convinced it's the starter! Read more here:

If it's the VATS, jump starting the car won't do any good.
