Default Will I be able to trade?

I will probably have to give up my V6 M5 (firebird), because the clutch is giving me horrible knee pain (I was born with bad joints.)

Should I be able to find someone willing to trade for their V6 A4?

I've seen a number of threads asking about converting A4 to M5, so I imagine a trade partner would be easy to find?

I believe you might find someone but how many 6 bangers are out there nowadays?? Not only that, you will need to find a car equal or better than yours if yours is in good or better shape. That might be even tougher. All you can do is try ads (not CL for obvious reasons) and describe accurately what you have and what you are looking for. If no success after a week or two, then you will have to sell outright or trade it in at a lot.
Best of luck!

not sure where you are located but if you decide to go the swap route I still have my auto from when I converted to an ls and manual. 67k on it car was my daily before I pulled everything out of it.

I would say your chances are pretty good. A lot of guys(including myself) would prefer a manual over an automatic. Better gas mileage and of course banging gears in a manual transmission.

if you can find someone it's possible, but you may have to sweeten the pot depending on condition and mileage differences, or if you live in a state like Georgia, where you basically have to pay a 7% "tag fee" of what their book says the car is worth (so they could collect from all those private party sales they where missing out on before) to register the vehicle.
