Default Firebird build question

So I have an opinion question for the forum. I want to get a 98-02 firebird/ta project car. I want to build it up over a few years. My plan is to completely tear down and rebuild this car. I'd probably use ta parts or better during the rebuild (probably an ls3 or something as well). So if I can find a firebird with a good body for under $2,000 would that be better then spending a little more on a ta if I really only need a "shell" car?

Thats not a bad plan especially if you know you are gonna redo a lot of stuff anyway. But I will say the ls1 pull outs still bring a pretty good sum of money so any extra you spend on a "better/running" car may be offset buy selling the stock engine.

For the sub 2k range though you may be looking at some pretty rough cars even roller chassis, but if you are okay with doing some body and interior work to go along with the build than you have the right mind set.

You do know that aside from some logos and decals, the only real difference between the Formula and T/A is the front bumper and rear hatch, right?

Just about everything is interchangeable between the two.

From personal experience, I can tell you that the Formula is a much better looking option.
