Default Trans fluid and filter change time

Hi Guys,

So I dropped the trans pan on my 2000 TA and all looked fine.. relatively clean fluid came out and no smells.
So I dropped the pan onto the floor to have a look at the crud in there ( minimal mess on the garage floor too) all I saw was usual small deposits of grey and a bit of black sludge.
Easily wiped away with a rag. But the magnet had the same on it but with addition of what looked like an 1/8 inch size shaving of some sort but it was black and metallic. It looked burnt too and broke up in my fingers.

What the hell was that ? I looked like ash but was metallic.
I dont know the history of this car..could it have had a rebuild and this is left over or is it signs of things to come....one tiny piece of stuff..really is it worth worrying about.
The trans oil filter was done about 10 thou ago so its not the original fluid at 49thou..

I'm gonna cut the filter open and report back !

Let me know what you think please..

If it shifts fine I wouldn't worry about it. I've found things like that in a transmission and it never had an issue but it does make you worry once you know its there. If it does have a problem it won't take long for it to start slipping or not shifting correctly. If it still worries you pull the pan again in a few thousand miles and take a look again.

Thanks for that Camarof41 Will bear that in mind.

Took the filter apart and nothing ...just red oil

Kind of strange though and on looking under a magnifier that tiny piece of crud looks like friction material, maybe brake band ? But has that stuff got a magnetic ingredient to it to make it stick to the magnet... and so brittle you can break it with your fingers

Should have cleaned the pan out with my eyes shut...

Well best get back out there and get the pan back on....
