Default quick question of differential fluid change

last night i took the cover off my 2002 firebird differential to swap covers and dio a fluid change.

when i took it off, there was a heat shield that went across the top. the top three bolts secured it in place.

any need to put that back on? it will look a little gaudy on my new polished plate/cover.

thoughts?

thanks for any help.
