LT1 Formula build thread
This is my 95 Formula the day I bought it. Bought as a roller, it was to replace my 94 Trans Am. The TA body was just too much work to fix. The doors didn't close right, the 3 year old paint was already coming off, the floor boards were rusted, and the frame was twisted.
So me and a buddy went to work pulling the entire drivetrain and suspension and swapping it into the Formula.
This pic was taken right after the first start up.
After the major portion of work had been done, I started looking for a body shop. Which isn't an easy task for me. I'd been burned by shitty paint jobs twice in the past and was nervous about it. Luckily, a coworker recommended a shop he had used several times in the past and was more than pleased with their work.
Thsee pics were taken right before it went into the body shop.
Three days after dropping it off, I decided to drop in, unannounced and check on it.
These guys put in way more work than I expected and didn't complain. They didn't even ask for more money when additional problems showed up. Luckily, the shop just happened to have another LT1 Formula in the back and were pulling parts off of it for no extra charge.
These were taken the day I picked it up. Obviously, the door emblem is off. So I had them remove them and paint them black.
Yesterday, I got my almost new TTMs put on and the look is 95% complete.
And this is how it sits today.
I have to say, I'm extremely pleased with how this has turned out. This car went from a $500 roller to what you see here. The frame is straight, the body work is near perfect, the door close flawlessly, and when was the last time you saw a 21 year old car with a working key fob?
