Default AC compressor install

hello. I have a 2002 Firebird (V6). the AC compressor is making a grinding noise. I know its the clutch plate in the front. It started last spring. so as a "temp" fix, i re-ran the serpentine belt to by-pass the ac compressor. one of the side effects of that is it can make he alternator chirp now and then.

anyway.....
we never use the AC. I want to replace the compressor and put the serpentine belt back to original to eliminate the alternator chirp. will i have issues with reinstalling the new compressor and NOT charging it with freon?

we never use AC anyway with t-tops.

thoughts?

I have no freon in my system and the car is just fine with it, the pressure switch keeps the compressor from ever coming on if there's no charge in the system, so no real danger of anything happening. Just be sure to have the system professionally evacuated, freon is nasty stuff
